The fitter you arrive the better, but you don't have to be a superhero. The 7 day Machame Route requires you to walk 6-7 hours a day for 7 days in a row (and more on the summit night). If you can walk 15km on consecutive days, it's a good sign you're fit enough to climb Kili.
Most hikers feel the altitude to some extent, but because the 7 day Machame Route offers ample acclimatisation time you're only likely to experience mild symptoms such as a headache or nausea.
Absolutely not. Our oldest summitter so far was 64, but we are sure this can and will be beaten.
Steven, our chef is one of the best high altitude chefs anywhere in the world. The food is plentiful and consists largely of rice, pasta and potato dishes served with meat and vegetables. Fruit provides a perfect addition. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free dishes are available.
Kilimanjaro's forest lower slopes are warm and humid. Early days on this expedition therefore tend to be T-shirt weather during hiking hours. Beyond the treeline it gets cold, especially after dark, and you will need further protection. We provide a kit list detailing exactly what to bring.
Lots of time to get ready: we will be with you every step of the way.
